The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Buea hereby congratulates all the athletes who participated in the 18th Edition of the University Games in Yaoundé I for their wonderful performance. The Vice-Chancellor equally acknowledges the athletes’ parents, the teachers -especially Deans and Directors – as well as non-teaching staff and the University community for their great support.
The University of Buea obtained four Gold Medals, namely, in Handball, Football, athletics and Paralympic sports in Javelin. We had altogether 16 medals, with bronze in lawn tennis mixed doubles, etc. To crown it all, the university had the best overall athlete viz “Man of the Games 2015” going to the UB football goalkeeper. These performances earned the University of Buea the overall 7th position out of 19 participating universities. Therefore, due to their teamwork, hard work, commitment and honesty demonstrated for one week non-stop, all the athletes will not have classes after 2pm from Tuesday, 2nd to Friday, 5th June 2015 to enable them rest. They will resume classes fully on Monday, 8th June 2015. To this end, all athletes should collect their transcripts from Mr. Enama’s Office and verify if they have corrections and, if any, to channel them to the Academic Office latest Monday, 8th June 2015.
Finally, the Vice-Chancellor acknowledges all, including the media. We are particularly grateful to Mme Dima of FINI Hotel and to SAWA LAND for their much needed financial support. Our children fought hard and they have brought the PRIZE.
