FET student Wins ICT 2020 Award

Nzometiah explains his 3D Printer project to the jury

Student of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology  wins Best Innovative ICT Project 2020.

NZOMETIAH NERVIS TETSOP of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology(FET) has won the special price of the President of the Republic of Cameroon after emerging overal winner of the 2020 Cameroon ICT innovation week with the best project of the year, an e-Waste 3D Printer.

Organized by the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications, the Innovation week is aimed at boosting the development of ICT driven business projects initiated by young Cameroonians, identifying marketable projects which could be sponsored as well as encouraging creativity.

About the e-Waste 3D Printer.
The e-Waste 3D printer is a limited type of industrial robot that can carry out an additive process under computer control called 3D printing. The 3D printer can be used to make a three-dimensional solid object of virtually any shape from a digital model or 3D model.

Since it can instantly print parts or an entire product based on a designed 3D graphic, it brings a revolutionary way for students, professionals, and hobbyists to create innovative parts for their projects. Example: Robotics engineers used it to print parts for their robots, Manufacturers used it for industrial product manufacturing, print kitchen utensils like spoons, bucket, and cups.

The Presidential award which is worth 15 million FCFA, consists of a cash prize of 10 million FCFA, a laptop, a smartphone, 4G internet modem, internet key plus 6 months internet connection and 3 online training from IBM, Ton Elumelu Foundation and ITU, all renowned ICT companies.
