Launch of the D-Sine Africa Project, FHS

FACULTY OF HEALTH SCIENCES: Launch of the D-SINE Africa Project.
The two research projects awarded to the University of Buea by the United States of America’s based organizations: National Institute of Health and Fogarty International Center have kicked off.

The D-SINE Africa research projects hosted by the Faculty of Health Sciences will help to improve access to quality surgical care in Cameroon and other Sub-Saharan African countries. The first research project for which UB is the prime recipient is titled: “Harnessing Data Science to Promote Equity in Injury and Surgery for Africa”.

The Principal Investigator and Professor of Surgery, Professor Chichom Mefire explained the scientific aspects of the projects demonstrating how the projects will decrease the burden of injuries and surgical diseases through surveillance, prevention and treatment.

Vice-Chancellor Ngomo Horace Manga who chaired the event, congratulated Professor Chichom “the main architect” of these achievements for the University of Buea and thank him and the Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences for their leadership in securing these awards for UB.

The University of Buea will work with FOUR other institutions to achieve the goal of the D-SINE Africa Project as follows:
AIMS – Cameroon; University of California-Berkeley; University of Cape Town; University of California-Los Angeles.
